What started as Nek Nomination turned into RAK Nomination and now it’s No Makeup Nomination. Nek nominations involved an online drinking game where individuals post a video of themselves consuming alcohol and then nominate certain friends to do the same. Cool people (like me) joined in on a different type of nomination called RAK Nominations (Random Acts of Kindness). Click here to see my video.
Now I see on Facebook friends participating in this No Makeup Nomination. To each their own, I’m just not that into it. Some of the pictures I see it’s totally obvious that they are wearing makeup and others they may be wearing no makeup but the filter they applied to their photo is basically the same thing as wearing makeup.
A family member showed me a couple funny memes regarding this whole No Makeup Nomination trend.
Personally, the whole no makeup nomination doesn’t really excite me that much. I just googled it and there’s a link to a post that claims the whole thing is for raising awareness for cancer. If I didn’t know what I can assume there are many others who didn’t know that either so how is it raising awareness for cancer. I thought it had to do with self love….
Another article talks about men taking selfies of them wearing makeup as a way to raise awareness for cancer. This is an evolving trend these ‘nomination’ things. I really enjoyed the RAK Nomination. It was nice watching other people’s videos of their RAK Nominations. One of the two people I nominated actually carried it out and performed a Random Act of Kindness. I feel that that the RAK Nominations really did make a difference, where as for the No Makeup, Men wearing makeup, and especially for the Nek Nominations I don’t see how it’s making a real difference in society.
Another blogger wrote a post about how the No Makeup Nominations aren’t raising awareness for cancer but she lists ways that you can raise cancer awareness.
So now it’s time for comments. C’mon people tell me what you think? I wanna know!
